Beyond Appearances

The design concept of the entire space incorporates the diversity of artistic coatings, abstractly translating the imagery of Chinese classical gardens. Petra is a massive volcanic stone dining table for indoor/outdoor use: a homage to the Mexican terrain that portrays its whims and character through its materials and impeccable craftsmanship. Through its surface, etched lines run connecting each of the three circles of polished stone strategically mirroring the monoliths underneath.

Foram Aesthetic

The walkway made of dark green slate seems to be a kind of escape from the hustle and bustle of the world. The main wall of the lobby is a replica of the River of Taichung City, Taiwan flowing across the city. People can imagine walking along the riverbank and feeling the softness of the breeze and the greenery through the hanging plants. Finally, they can stop at the rock furniture in the cafe and enjoy their most beautiful moments.

Guangming

The project is located in Guangming District, Shenzhen. With a total construction area of 140,000 square meters, it is a comprehensive venue integrating performing arts center, art gallery, library and urban planning hall. The design theme of the project is city and nature. Cities are not only people and buildings, but also animals, plants, and casual moments, which together constitute a colorful world. The design concept of the project is the eye of culture, the song of art.

Vanke City Growth Hall

In the eastern suburb memory in chengdu, china, Mdo has transformed an old state-run hongguang electronic tube factory into a vivid "vanke city growth hall". The original building founded in 1958, held the Hongguang electronic tube factory, which produced once oscilloscopes and kinescopes for the military. As a continuity of the past, the oscilloscope became the design's starting point, and the "burst of energy" was extracted as the element throughout the project. This "explosion of energy" was seen as the spatial concept of the "big bang of knowledge".

Joy Hill

In the project of Vanke Joy Hill, Mdo wants to create a ceremonial community lounge that can trigger emotional resonance. This work is inspired by Dongguan's urban symbols. The hanging installation is inspired by the undulating silhouette of the roof of the Wok Ear House. Using bamboo as raw material. Based on the local intangible cultural heritage, Knitting Technique of Dongguan's Straw, the bamboo strips are rearranged, combined, and intertwined to form a rhythmic movement from the simple to the complex and manifest a uniquely artistic atmosphere in the space.
